Hello, people I am a Malish Wali living in NJ.
Postpartum Massage was in fact practiced by Asian-Indian ladies, customarily a family person of
advanced age. Postnatal Massage techniques are transmitted orally by
Great-Aunts and such, and the benefits of Postnatal Massage were well-known for too
long to remember. These wise healers knew about herbology.
The new Mom was aided in getting back to strong health,
and this massage practitioner is called a Malishwali, or "Massage Guardian."
The baby and mother both receive a massage session. The practices date back ages, but some
say Hindu culture predates the date historians accept as the beginning of life
that would be recognizable to a modern person. I am known as Ekaja, which means the only child. |
